What is Ritmo?
Ritmo™ is a comfortable, safe and FUN way to play music and recorded voices to your baby in the womb. Ritmo provides a winning combination of state-of-the-art prenatal acoustic technology, versatility and function.
When can I start using Ritmo?
We recommend that you start using Ritmo in your second trimester. A baby’s hearing develops as early as 16 weeks gestation.  This is quite amazing, because it means that babies in-utero can actually begin to hear before the ear is structurally complete!
Does Ritmo come with a pre-loaded MP3 player?
No.  Ritmo connects seamlessly to your own audio player (iPod, MP3/4 player, or SmartPhone) so that your baby will hear the music and sound that is important to you.
What will my Ritmo Pregnancy Kit include? And how do I set it up?
For your convenience, Ritmo comes pre-assembled.
It includes the following components:
1 Prenatal Audio Belt
• 1 Audio Controller
• 2 Mini Speaker Sets
• 1 Charger
• 1 Belt Extender
• 1 Audio Connector Cable
• 1 Washable Protective Pouch
• 1 Detailed Instructional Booklet
Why should I choose Ritmo?
Ritmo is the only product on the market designed specifically for prenatal use.  The Ritmo Audio Controller ensures a safe and stable sound output for a baby in the womb, regardless of how loud the sound was recorded or the volume that it is played.  We call this Ritmo’s Safe & Sound Technology.  Expectant parents call this “total peace of mind.”
Does Ritmo meet national and international safty standards for this type of product?
Ritmo complies with the stringent safety standards of the CE & FCC.
Do I need to be laying down or sitting still in order to use Ritmo?
Absolutely not!  Ritmo was designed to fit into your active lifestyle. Whether practicing yoga, walking the dog, working or simply relaxing, Ritmo’s soft state-of-the-art fabric belt stays secure on the pregnant belly.

Will my family be able to use Ritmo with me?
Yes. In fact, Ritmo is the perfect way to get the entire family involved in your pregnancy.  Dads-to-be particularly enjoy Ritmo, because it gives them the opportunity to begin to bond with their baby prior to birth by prerecording audio of their voice such as reading a favorite bedtime story, singing a lullaby and even talking to the pregnant mom on her mobile phone while baby listens in.
Where can I find information about the developmental benefits of playing music in-utero?
America’s Doctors, Oz and Roizen, have written a lot about this subject.  They say, “We also encourage you to listen to all kinds of music during and after pregnancy. This will help stimulate baby’s senses and improve his brain development. Exposure to different sounds and scenes is essentially what helps establish connections from one set of neurons -- the nerve cells of the brain -- to another. This is how we all learn. These neural structures are shaped like a tree and root system. A baby’s brain is extremely plastic, meaning that it can constantly adapt and make new connections between trees.”

Is there research showing that listening to music will help my baby feel calm and relaxed?

Dr. Thomas Verny and John Kelly wrote in The Secret Life of the Unborn Child,  “A four or five month old fetus responds to sounds and melody and responds in very discriminating ways. Put on calming music and even the most agitated baby relaxes. At the very least, a pregnant woman who spends a few minutes each day listening to soothing music could make her child feel more relaxed and tranquil.”

Can using Ritmo benefit my baby after birth?
Using Ritmo to introduce your baby to the sounds of your life before birth is a great idea. Familiar voices and sounds have a soothing effect on newborns, maybe even helping to make them calm, suck more intensively and move their bodies more.
One happy Ritmo customer wrote us, “We heard from multiple new parents that the only thing to calm their infants were sounds they were used to hearing, examples: shower, car motor, hair dryer, etc. We are thinking that if we could get the baby used to some classical music and lullaby renditions of the Beatles that we could then just play the same playlist and be able to calm our future baby.”
Can my Ritmo Pregnancy Audio Belt be washed?
Definitely!  In fact, it can be washed up to 5,000 times.  Laundry instructions are explained in the instruction booklet.
How long does the Ritmo battery charge last?
A fully charged battery will last approximately 14 hours in the Prenatal setting and 5 hours in the Postnatal setting. Prior to initial use, don’t forget to fully charge the Nuvo Safe & Sound Controller for 12-14 hours.
Can you tell me what some customers say about Ritmo?

Please see our "Happy Customers" section for feedback from parents.

Does it matter what kind of music I play to my baby?
Music selection is a matter of personal preference. The music that you choose to play is actually less important than how the music makes YOU feel.  This is because pregnant women share hormones with their babies. So when mom is relaxed and happy, then baby is too.  When they listen to music together their connection is enhanced and stress is reduced.
Who came up with the idea for Ritmo?
Oren Oz, our CEO and Founder, saw his wife struggling to play in-utero music to their first born by putting headphones on her belly. As an engineer, he recognized the need for a product to be designed for the purpose of playing music safely and effectively in the womb.  Oren developed a solution that is comfortable for expectant mothers and safe for developing babies.
